Lose Weight With The Dukan Diet

July 29, 2017 by Mike Johnson Leave a Comment

The Dukan Diet originated in France and focuses on protein. You can choose from 100 different foods and 72 of those foods are animal protein with the rest coming from plants. When you are on this diet, you can eat as much of these 100 foods as you like. The Dukan method replicates the hunter-gatherer diet which was heavily based on protein.

Group of important proteins meats fish dairy eggs white meat on a white background Shot from aboveEating a diet rich in protein helps you lose weight because protein uses a lot of energy to digest and it makes you feel full. Protein is also low calorie. When you eat lots of protein and cut out carbs, your body will start to burn fat which will help you lose even more weight.

The Dukan method focuses on four different stages: attack, cruise, consolidation, and stabilization. The attack phase will help you lose weight rapidly to kick off your diet. Most people lose six pounds a week during this phase. You can only eat lean protein and you can eat an unlimited amount of it, including eggs, cottage cheese, fish, beef, and chicken. You will also eat 1.5 tablespoons of oat bran each day.

Oat bran is high in fiber and provides you with the fiber you need as well as helps you feel full since it expands in your stomach. You are going to need to drink at least 7 glasses of water each day and you also need to exercise for at least 20 minutes a day. During the attack phase, the weight is going to come off quickly.

The cruise phase is the next phase. This phase slows down the rapid weight loss by introducing 32 different vegetables to your diet plan. Your goal is to lose 2 pounds a week during this phase of the diet. The time that this phase is going to last depends on what your weight loss goals are. If you want to lose 10 pounds, the phase will last for five weeks.

You can eat as much protein and vegetables that you want, as long as you are continuing to lose weight. If your weight starts to creep back up, you will cut the offending vegetable or protein out of your diet. You can only eat vegetables every other day during the cruise phase and you will still need to drink water, take your oat bran and exercise.

The consolidation phase focuses on maintaining your new weight. You can eat two pieces of bread each day and a serving of cheese. You can also have a piece of fruit. One meal each week can be anything you want. The stabilization phase helps keep your weight stable and you can eat what you want as long as you have one all-protein meal day, continue with the oat bran and exercise.

The Dukan Diet works and it provides you with a safe way to lose large amounts of weight. The protein and vegetables give you the nutrients you need and the oat bran keeps you feeling full.
