Using A Liquid Diet To Lose Weight

July 29, 2017 by Mike Johnson Leave a Comment

In order to lose weight, one needs to take in fewer calories than is used by the body. This is as simple as eating less food and especially foods that are high in calories. One diet in particular, can help to drastically reduce the daily intake of calories and that is the liquid diet. During this type of diet, only liquids are ingested on a daily basis and these liquids can either be fruit and vegetable juice or protein shakes. There are some liquid only diets where a replacement shake is used for 2 meals and a normal dinner can be eaten. So, this article will take a closer look at these diets and how they can help weight loss.

Firstly, one of the most popular diets is the juice diet. This is basically where only fresh juices are made from vegetables and fruits. These juice mixes are then drunk throughout the day and no other solid food is eaten. Of course, an unlimited amount of water can be drunk which will speed up the rate of fat loss. This type of juice diet should only be followed for a few days or weeks before transitioning back to eating solid food. This type of diet not only helps weight loss, but can help to detoxify the entire body and improve one's skin, hair, nails, overall energy and health.

Next, there are liquid meal replacement diets where a protein drink is ingested for breakfast, lunch and dinner. These shakes are filled with proteins, complex carbohydrates and the necessary vitamins and minerals to sustain the body. They are usually quite filling and range from 300 – 500 calories each. By drinking these shakes for each meal, weight loss is definitely guaranteed since only a maximum of 1,500 calories would be taken in per day.

These type of diets work because they take all the guess work out of portion control. Most people severely underestimate how many calories they are eating per day, even if they measure and weigh their foods. As a result, they eat many more calories which leads to weight gain or a lack of weight loss.

This type of diet is quite easy to follow and very convenient for busy people. After all, it takes a lot of time to cook and prepare all of one's meals. However, drinking a shake takes a minimal amount of time, which makes this diet easy to stick to. When following this type of diet, it is important to ensure that sufficient amounts of nutrients are being eaten to prevent nutritional deficiencies from happening. Also, this diet shouldn't be followed permanently to prevent long term issues such as fatigue, constipation, heart damage, hair loss and other negative side effects from happening.

A liquid diet can help most people to lose a lot of weight in a short amount of time. However, it is important to consult a doctor before starting this type of diet, to prevent any possible negative health effects.
